Mobile EV Charging
Mobile EV Charging vs Towing in Atlanta
Published by Trustee Roadside Assistance
Short answer
Mobile EV charging is the right choice when the vehicle is healthy, accessible and simply out of energy. Transport is the right choice when the vehicle will not accept a charge, cannot be safely reached, or has a drive-system fault.
What each service actually solves
Mobile charging adds energy to a battery. That is all it does. If the reason the car stopped is that the battery is empty, adding energy fixes it. If the reason is anything else, adding energy fixes nothing.
Transport moves a vehicle that cannot move itself. It solves access, not energy.
Choose mobile charging when
- The car reached 0% or is too low to reach a charger
- The vehicle powers up, unlocks and can open its charge port
- The car is somewhere a service vehicle can physically reach
- There is a working charger within a reasonable drive once energy is added
Choose transport when
- The vehicle will not accept a charge on scene
- There is a drive-unit, contactor or high-voltage fault
- The car is in a position that cannot be safely serviced
- The vehicle needs a dealer or service center regardless
The Atlanta-specific wrinkle: parking decks
In Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead, a lot of dead EVs are inside structured parking. Height-restricted decks are hard for tow equipment to enter and often easier for mobile charging equipment. That single fact flips the answer for many downtown calls.
