Can You Mobile Charge a Tesla in a Parking Garage?
Published by Trustee Roadside Assistance
Short answer
Mobile charging inside a parking garage is often possible when the service vehicle and equipment can physically reach the level, ceiling clearance allows access, and the property permits the work. Provide the deck name, level and nearest entrance when you call.
Why so many Atlanta EV calls come from decks
Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, hospital campuses and airport-area facilities all park vehicles in structures. A car that arrives with 6% and sits for three days in a deck with no charger is a very common Atlanta scenario.
The three things that decide it
- Clearance: most decks post a height bar. If a service vehicle cannot enter, the equipment has to reach the car another way.
- Access: gated decks, ticketed exits and after-hours locks all matter. Someone may need to badge the technician in.
- Permission: it is the property's garage. Some operators restrict outside service work, especially overnight.
What to tell us on the phone
- Name of the deck or building
- Level number and nearest elevator, stairwell or entrance
- Posted clearance height at the entrance, if you can see it
- Whether the deck is gated or requires a badge or ticket
- Whether you can be at the vehicle when the technician arrives
A GPS pin alone is nearly useless inside a concrete structure — signal bounces and the pin often lands on the street. The level and entrance details are what get a technician to your car.
